My son has this huge fascination for dogs. And he has been after me to get us a pet for the house – a nice, cuddly little dog. Oh, I’d love to do that but am forced to disappoint him. Because having a pet is not something everyone can do. It is not an easy task to look after one and requires complete commitment.
My son does not understand my reluctance because my neighbor has a pet dog and his eyes are glued to that house all the time. But I am very disapproving of my neighbor’s decision to get a pet. She lives in a one-bedroom apartment with her two children and the place is cramped for space. So I find it difficult to understand how she can have a dog in there.
I know a lot of people think keeping a pet amounts to cruelty towards animals. I do not agree with this totally but what I do think is that only domestic animals should be kept as pets. I do not, of course, mean goats and sheep or a cow! My inclination is more towards cats and dogs only. .
But again, keeping a dog as a pet would require a big house with a lot of open space and preferably, a backyard. You cannot keep a dog in a small apartment where the poor animal hardly has moving space, leave alone running. Cats are still okay in an apartment but dogs need a lot of room.
Other than the space issue, pets need a lot of caring for. There are health issues which need complete attention. I know that most people get so attached to their pet that the latter is more like a family member and as precious. And it is because of this emotion that pet care has, of late, become an important aspect of consumerism.
There are many products in the market that pertain to pets only. You’d be surprised at the variety available. You can get a peek at that on this site too where there are products for the dental care and good breath of the pet and also pet medication helpers and nutrition. There are nursing supplies and wound management. And don’t miss out the pet spa which features tools to pamper your pet from head to tail!
So, if you got a pet, pamper it too!
