With spring under way, we are fast approaching summer. And with summer comes the heat and humidity. And with humidity comes the perspiration, especially in those places where humidity rates soar during summer.
The word ‘perspiration’ brings up images of damp underarms and acrid odors. It is very important to maintain body hygiene if one is to avoid becoming a social pariah. But those who prone to sweat a lot must have discovered that smelling fresh does not come with regular bathing and changing of clothes. Sometimes more is required.
By more, I am referring to taking some steps that can help reduce the amount of sweat we may produce and also minimize the odor from it. And by these steps I do not mean any kind of medical treatment. Just simple measures that are easy and effective.
For example, products such as antiperspirants and deodorants are automatic choices of most people. And these are quite successful, too, in getting rid of the body odor.
But there are other ways one can mask this odor. One should wear cotton clothes during summer. Synthetic clothes, you must have noticed, allow the sweat odor to intensify. Also, it is advisable to wear loose-fitting and light-colored clothes during the summers.
Drink as much water as possible so that all the toxins from your body are flushed out. This means also flushing out of the odor-causing elements. And instead of hot drinks, opt for cool ones. These will keep the body cool, too. Avoid drinks containing caffeine or sugary drinks as also alcohol because these fluids tend to have a dehydrating effect on the body.
