A Whiff Of Calm

Incense is considered quite cool to use because it has such an overpowering smell… and effect on the mind and body! It is in a way a tranquilizer and connects immediately to the brain. At the end of a very stressful day, you can try lighting a stick of lavender and see what it does to your frayed nerves. Amazing effect!
Incense is available in different forms – as sticks or in bottles. You can use it to cleanse a special area just before meditating or when you are about to retire to bed. The fragrance really helps to induce sleep. Or when you get back home after a long vacation and your house smells musty, light up an incense stick and get that stale smell outta the window! And when you are feeling down and depressed, burn a lavender stick and you will soon feel relaxed.
There are certain fragrances that have some special effects. An example is jasmine that can be used to lift the spirits and promote a positive attitude. It is exotic and relaxing. Another is patchouli which is said to enhance sexuality and stimulate the mind. Lavender helps promote relaxation, relieve stress and initiate emotional balance. Ylang Ylang helps overcome anger, negativity, fear and rigidity. Rose is said to provide relief from depression, stress and tension. It invokes calm and cooling.
