When we look at someone for the first time our gaze falls on the skin of the person without our realizing it. What we tend to instantly notice is how good the skin of the person is… or is not. After all, it is in-your-face kind of thing. But what we also do not realize is that by staring at the skin we are also looking into the person... the health of the person!
How? Because the skin is a good indicator of a person’s health. Just as a robust glowing skin is a sign of good health a dull, sad looking skin means an unhealthy body.
Looking after not only your general health but the skin is essential because the skin is the outer covering to an inner being. It is the body’s protective shield against the environment. Often we take our skin for granted. But what we do not realize is that if we do not take care of it, the skin will turn dry and flaky and will become prone to cuts and bruises ultimately leading to infections.
Therefore, skincare should be a daily routine and much attention must be paid to how we look after it. A routine 15 to 20 minutes of close attention should be enough. It should start with our ritual morning bath. We should avoid the use of harsh, cosmetic soaps. Instead, a gentle body bath be used and no indulging in scrubbing and rubbing. This way we will only be damaging our skin and preparing it for the early onset of wrinkles.
After a warm, and not too hot, bath what is required is gently patting your body dry with a towel instead of vigorous rubbing. This should be followed by applying a moisturizer that suits the skin type.
Also another very important aspect of skincare is protecting it from UV rays. Sun bathing is fine as long as it is restricted and gives the right kind of tan. We all need some sun exposure because it is the primary source of Vitamin D. But overexposure to the sun can be harmful and dangerous, too. If exposed for too long the sun's ultraviolet rays can cause skin and eye damage, immune system suppression and even cancer. Experts recommend a sunscreen with SPF 15 and higher for children and those with fair skin. The higher SPF, the better protection from UVB rays.
On this site you will find a wide range of skincare products. There are some that provide a hygienic and antimicrobial care for the skin, wherever required, and some that moisturize the skin well, leaving it soft and smooth. We also have bathing products plus protective creams. There are also cleansers and odor eliminators designed specifically for those using urological and ostomy products.
Just as we try to stay healthy, we should also make our skin healthy. After all, beauty is skin deep!
